Inhaltsangabe: Einleitung: Die Arbeit behandelt das derzeit hochaktuelle und heftig umstrittene Konzept der Internet-Einkaufsgemeinschaften, das wegen Verstoßes gegen Rabattgesetz und Zugabenverordnung wiederholt gerichtlich verboten wurde. Die Einkaufsgemeinschaften organisieren für die auf ihrer Website angebotenen Produkte Sammelbestellungen von Privatverbrauchern, wobei der Preis für die Kunden bei steigender Menge (also Bestellungen insgesamt) sinkt. Der weltweit große Erfolg des Powershopping und die enormen Nutzerzahlen weisen auf ein sehr zukunftsträchtiges Geschäftsmodell hin, das in der vorliegenden Diplomarbeit eingehend auf seine Vor- und Nachteile für alle Beteiligten (Verbraucher, Hersteller, Einkaufsgemeinschaft) geprüft wird. Die zugrunde liegende Frage ist daher, wie sich Entstehung und Entwicklung der neuen Einkaufsgemeinschaften als Zwischenhändler besonderer Art rechtfertigen lassen und welche Funktionen sie erfüllen. Dies geschieht anhand der Transaktionskostentheorie: Transaktionskosten sind die Kosten, die nicht mit Produktion oder Entgelt zusammenhängen, aber dennoch vor, während oder nach einem Geschäft entstehen können. Als Beispiele für Transaktionskosten sind u. a. Zeitaufwand, Geschäftspartner- und Informationssuche, Kontrollen zur Sicherstellung der Einhaltung bestimmter Vereinbarungen (und bei Nichteinhaltung Nachbesserungs- oder Entschädigungskosten), erlittene Nachteile oder Schäden zu nennen. Gang der Untersuchung: Nach einer Einleitung in die Thematik und einem kurzen Überblick über die aktuelle Entwicklung des Internet folgt in Kapitel 2 zunächst eine Erläuterung des Ursprungs der Idee der Einkaufsgemeinschaft. Anschließend werden Konzept und Funktionsweise der deutschen Internet-Einkaufsgemeinschaften erklärt. Den Hauptteil bildet Kapitel 3, in dem der Transaktionskostenansatz nach kurzer theoretischer Darlegung zur Beantwortung der oben formulierten Frage herangezogen wird.
