About the Book

Can an unlikely quartet of heroes save humanity from unstoppable evil?

It was a typical day when third-year university student Edith Orozco boards her train home but finds herself thrust into Ancient Egypt instead.

Edith, her niece Moli, and two strangers must rely on each other for survival as they encounter treacherous slave merchants, frightening prehistoric dinosaurs, and mischievous ancient gods. Only then can they hope to save the world from a murderous AI bent on destruction.

When bravery is no longer a choice and with the clock ticking, can they save the world from moving one step closer to mayhem and destruction?

Join these heroes as they trailblaze through a suspense-filled 24-hour battle for survival.

What readers say about Princess Rouran and the Book of the Living:

"Four young people face an uphill struggle in saving the world against the forces of evil in this whimsical fantasy. The dozen or so pages of notes and references testify to the density of the prose." - Kirkus Reviews

"A well-written and intriguing fantasy and a highly literate puzzle of a book that weaves the threads of ancient and modern history into a time-traveling tapestry of conspiracy theories and old-fashioned adventure." - IndieReader

"Shawe Ruckus has created a magnificent world full of otherworldly creatures and futuristic technology, resulting in a uniquely engaging setting where you are completely immersed." - Readers' Favorite

"An epic tale of adventure, magic, and danger. What truly sets this book apart is its strong and inspiring female protagonist." - Amazon

"Combines excellent elements of fantasy and sci-fi, brilliantly woven throughout the course of a fascinating story that will keep readers hooked until the end." - Amazon

"Definitely a must-read for fantasy and adventure lovers." - Goodreads

About the Author

Shawe Ruckus is an author of urban mysteries and YA science fantasy, in which cold cases and legendary creatures take centre stage. She is a former student at the Worshipful Society of Apothecaries in London, where Agatha Christie learned how to poison.

Shawe is a globetrotter born in Inner Mongolia. Having woven a rich tapestry of experiences from her diverse residencies-including China, the UK, Austria, South Korea, Switzerland, and Japan-Shawe brings a unique medley of humour, bad humour, suspense, and slices of everyday life to her stories.

Having attended King's College London and the University of Cambridge, Shawe also took courses at the International Space University, where she acquired much useful technical knowledge for her writing.

Her first book in the Mercenaries in Suits series was shortlisted for the 2023 Readers' Favorite Book Award in the Urban Fiction category. Shawe was also recognized as 1 of 15 sci-fi writers shortlisted for the 8th Masters of the Future Award.

When not writing, Shawe Ruckus indulges in culinary adventures, offers mentorship sessions to inspiring entrepreneurs to 'hunt' their next unicorn, and persistently attempts to cultivate a green thumb.
