Wer weiß, ob sie nicht bald kommen wird; - eine Zeit, in der billiges Erdöl für alle knapp wird. Der Westen investiert in dieser Situation in riesige Solarkraftwerke in Libyen, die preiswerten Strom nach Europa bringen sollen. Aber es gibt auch andere Lösungen. Der französische Konzern DCNS begegnet der Energieknappheit durch mobile Kraftwerke in Form von umgebauten Atom-U-Booten, deren Reaktoren nun nicht mehr Strom für den Antrieb liefern, sondern diesen dort bereitstellen, wo sie nahe großen Küstenstädten vorübergehend auf dem Meeresboden verankert werden. Auch im Bankenviertel Frankfurts wird der Nutzen dieses Projekts 'Flexblue' erkannt, und für eine Übergangszeit sollen solche Kraftwerksröhren der Stadt die dringend notwendige Energie bringen. Harvey Locklear ist Chefwissenschaftler bei Terrapower und Hauptentwickler des neuen Wanderwellenreaktors. Dieser soll in Zukunft nukleare Abfälle als Brennstoff verarbeiten und dabei keine radioaktiven Reste mehr übriglassen. Ein tolles Projekt, wären da nicht massive kriminelle Interessen, die diese Chancen für sich nutzen wollten. Al-Kaida sabotiert die Solarkraftwerke, um die Energiepreise hoch und den Westen in der Krise zu halten. Locklear wird entführt und soll den Wanderwellenreaktor für Al-Kaida in einer geheimen, unterirdischen Anlage so weiterentwickeln, dass er Atommüll in industriellen Maßstäben verarbeiten kann. Bei DCNS gibt es Anschläge und Sabotageakte. Die Geheimdienste ermitteln weltweit. Wird es gelingen, Ben Cheng, dem Industriebaron und Anführer von Al-Kaida, das Handwerk zu legen? 'Projekt Thanatos' ist ein spannender Roman voller unerwarteter Dynamik, spritzig und mitreißend. Der fiktionalen Handlung liegen veränderte, aber reale Projekte zugrunde, welche auch im Internet verfolgt werden können.
About the Author: Dieter Wolber wurde 1961 in Datteln / Westf. geboren. 1980 legte er die Abiturprüfung in Villingen-Schwenningen, Baden-Württ., ab. Er studierte zunächst Chemie an der Universität Konstanz, wechselte dann aber zum gehobenen, nichttech- nischen Verwaltungsdienst und studierte an der Fachhoch- schule / University of applied sciences in Kehl. Seit vielen Jahren arbeitet er in der Kommunalverwaltung in Baden-Württemberg. Nebenberuflich unterrichtete er über längere Zeit Chemie, Physik und Sprachen. Die Liebe zum Schreiben begleitet Dieter Wolber schon lange. Bereits in seiner Schulzeit erstellte er sein erstes Buch, später folgten weitere Manuskripte zu Sachbüchern, ferner zu seinem ersten Roman. Seit 2005 folgten mehrere umfangreiche Dokumentationen, ferner erste Kurzgeschichten.
