About the Book

The city of Redemption is on the rise to becoming one of the top booming metropolises in United States History. It thrives as a glittering amalgam of new and old money, all dancing to an inexhaustible symphony of superabundance. But in the Italian slums of the Valley, children are going missing. Stori Putzarella is only 16 years old, and already surrendered to the heart hardened indifference that comes part and parcel with inner city life. It's not her problem what happened to those kids; she doesn't have to care if she doesn't want to. What she needs to do is stay tough, stay indifferent-and she knows just where to go for that-to the place called the Cage for a good old-fashioned fight. Stori thinks she's got it all figured out until her father vanishes one night without a trace. As she sets out to find him she ends up on a harrowing path that leads her straight to the core of Redemption's abductions and to an undercity not even the police know about. In this undercity Stori realizes many things: there are horrifying secrets being kept from the citizens of Redemption. Beneath the glittering showcase of wealth, beneath the lavish parties and unbridled laughter, is an ugly world of corruption, conspiracy and crime and a secret brotherhood that has been around since the ancient times of Babel. And one more thing: a secret about Stori herself-one her father has tried to keep from her since she was a baby. Burdened with the weight of her newfound knowledge Stori is no longer able to turn a blind eye on the abductions in her city. Armored with only her courage and the council of a neighborhood prophetess she embarks on a mission that will not only threaten her hard-earned autonomy but the future of her city and her very life. In this first book in a four part series our young, jaded friend will learn that truth, no matter how frightening, no matter how unwanted-if that truth belongs to someone, it will never rest until it finds them. COMING SOON: Book two, The Prophet (Ghost Dance Returns), will be released in August 2014
