About the Author: Avishai (Avi) Ceder received his PhD in 1975 at the University of California at Berkeley, and he is professor and chair of transportation at the University of Auckland, New Zealand, and at the Technion-Israel Institute of Technology. He frequently delivers courses on public-transit operations planning in Asia, Europe, Australasia, and the United States. His research and implementation interests in the subject stem from being a bus driver for four years for a large bus company.
