About the Author: Denise Rutledge is a fan of puzzles. Her high school English teacher gave extra credit for doing crossword puzzles. Her mother-in-law introduced her to cryptograms. A drugstore in St. Croix, US Virgin Islands, introduced her to her first Dell variety puzzle book. Rutledge also enjoys researching and writing about many topics. Yet, self-publishing is one of her favorite topics. Her interest in the publishing world began in college when she took Magazine Editing. It grew when she began writing content for websites and learned how to tweak website layouts. Her discovery that self-publishing is often the only way to reach smaller audiences finalized her commitment to the self-publishing model. When she started WritingMyOwnBook.com to coach authors through the self-publishing maze, she felt her design and journalism training were her primary assets.
