Bachelorarbeit aus dem Jahr 2014 im Fachbereich Germanistik - Neuere Deutsche Literatur, Note: 1,7, Eberhard-Karls-Universität Tübingen, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Der Ovidische Mythos Pygmalion handelt von einem Mann, der sich aus Elfenbein eine Statue in Form einer Frau bildet und sich in diese verliebt. Obwohl die misogyne Haltung des Ovidischen Pygmalion wohl seine hervorstechendste Eigenschaft ist, handelt der Pygmalion-Stoff beim genaueren Hinsehen doch eher, in Eva Kormanns Worten, "von Philogynie, von Frauenverehrung - oder besser: von der Liebe zu Traumfrauen". Der Wunsch des mythologischen Pygmalion nach einer Frau, die seiner Idealvorstellung entspricht, bleibt auch im 19. Jahrhundert Thema zahlreicher Bearbeitungen. Infolge einer Pädagogisierung des Pygmalion-Stoffs werden jedoch keine Statuen mehr zum Leben erweckt, sondern reale Frauen zu idealen Gattinnen erzogen: Die "Körperformung" wird zur "Seelenformung". Das Material für ihr Vorhaben finden die meist wohlhabenden, angesehenen Männer in den Frauen der unteren sozialen Schichten. Die dort herrschende Ungebildetheit bietet dem Mann "reichlich Gelegenheit, diese vermeintliche Leere phantasmatisch zu füllen. Er idealisiert die Geliebte als ein Wesen, das anders als er selbst vom verderblichen Einfluss der Gesellschaft verschont" blieb. Die daraus entstehenden "Erziehungsehen" nehmen jedoch nur selten einen glücklichen Ausgang, weitaus häufiger enden sie in Tragödien. In Karl Leberecht Immermanns Novelle "Der Neue Pygmalion" (1829) und der Erzählung Regine (1881) von Gottfried Keller liegt das Hauptaugenmerk auf der Pädagogisierung des Pygmalion-Stoffs: Unter falschem Vorwand bringt Baron Werner die Försterstochter Emilie an sein Schloss, um sie zu seiner Ehefrau zu erziehen. Trotz einiger Komplikationen nähern sie sich einander an und schlussendlich liegt "die Erzogne [...] dem Erzieher im Arme". "Fast märchenhaft" beginnt dagegen die Erzählung von Erwin und Regine. Das Glück des Anfangs verliert sic
