Er soll auf den mündlichen Spracherwerb von Kindern bezogen betrachtet werden. Der mündliche Spracherwerb soll dazu beschrieben werden. Unterschiede zwischen beiden Formen des Spracherwerbs sollen herausgestellt werden. Der Prozess des Schriftspracherwerbs und die theoretischen Grundlagen seiner schulischen Vermittlung sollen beschrieben werden. Auch soll der Begriff der vorschulischen Förderung mit besonderem Bezug zum Schriftspracherwerb geklärt werden. Die aktuelle Situation in Deutschland soll dazu erläutert werden. Hierzu sollen auch Vorgaben des "Berliner Bildungsprogramm für die Bildung, Erziehung und Betreuung von Kindern in Tageseinrichtungen bis zu ihrem Schuleintritt" betrachtet werden. Abschließend wird die amerikanische Studie "Early Literacy Instruction and Learning in Kindergarten: Evidence From the Early Childhood Longitudinal Study - Kindergarten Class of 1998-1999" vor dem Hintergrund der vorschulischen Schriftspracherwerbsförderung in den USA beschrieben. Speziell für die USA gültige theoretische Konzepte sollen erklärt und hinterfragt werden.
