About the Author: Suzanne Lasky-Gerard began her broadcasting career at the Miami CBS Channel 4 affiliate where she wrote the award-winning "Bobby," about children using drugs, a topic rarely discussed and mostly denied. Later, hired as General Manager for the new Miami cable station JFTV, Suzanne produced and hosted hundreds of programs that aired for over nine years on local cable. She wrote and produced, the Emmy award winning, "The March of the Living" for PBS stations nationally that aired for over ten years. It won numerous awards including... an Emmy, three Emmy nominations, two Silver and one Gold Chicago Film Festival Awards, and others. Later, Suzanne Lasky Gerard with her business partner started their own film and video production company, South Florida Productions, where they produced hundreds of commercials, corporate videos, and documentaries. Suzanne Lasky-Gerard has been honored with many awards during her career including, "The State of Florida's Most Outstanding Young Woman," a Mayor's Proclamation naming "Suzanne Lasky Day" in Miami-Dade County, Florida, commendations by many charitable organizations, and most recently was presented with the "Breaking the Glass Ceiling Award" by Florida International University's Jewish Museum of Florida, for "making it" in a man's world. She graduated from Hunter College and Queens College of CUNY with a MS degree. She makes her home in South Florida and Boone, North Carolina with her fiancé and three rescued dogs. Today when Suzanne sees the large number of women on the air and behind the scenes in television, she is thrilled, remembering how difficult it was for women when she began her career.
