About the Book

It takes an alien encounter and the imminent extinction of the human race to drag Jake Blake off his parents' couch, but once he's off, he goes on a ride he'll never forget.

An alien committee can save mankind from certain self-destruction with a mere touch of a button, but the Committee isn't sure that saving the Earth is worth the effort. The Committee agrees to let an Earthling try to convince them, and that's where Jake comes in. An average, mediocre representative of humanity who wouldn't be missed back on Earth, Jake wouldn't be anybody's first choice to represent mankind if a successful outcome was a priority.

When Glrxx, a grey alien, lands his spacecraft in front of Jake and tells him what he's been chosen to do, even Jake suggests Glrxx choose somebody else for the mission. Realizing he doesn't have a choice, Jake reluctantly accepts that it's going to be up to him to convince a bunch of reluctant extraterrestrials to save humanity.

As he zips through the galaxy with the help of Glrxx, his ride and reluctant guide, he meets with as many aliens as he can in a comical quest to convince the members of the alien Committee that mankind is worth saving.

The mission seems pretty straightforward to Jake, yet somehow, he manages to fail to impress the aliens he meets at every stop along the way. Introduced to glowing life-forms from the depths of a frozen planet, seductive beauties from a strange paradise, undersized bullies from a miserable gray planet, reptilians who would like to help him, gray aliens who aren't sure, and others who simply couldn't care less, Jake somehow manages to disappoint them all. The pressure mounts as time runs out, and things get stranger on every planet he visits, and with every alien he meets.

Finally, Jake finds himself in a small meeting room in the depths of the death-star-sized headquarters of the intergalactic community. Facing the alien Committee, he's got one last chance to persuade them to intervene before they cast their votes. Can he somehow find a way to pull a victory out of the jaws of an almost certain defeat?

A Quick Spin is a fast-paced adventure that provides a galactic perspective to the problems we're facing on Earth, and offers a glimpse of the opportunities that await us if we can ever figure out a way to get off our planet and join the intergalactic community.
