Studienarbeit aus dem Jahr 2017 im Fachbereich Germanistik - Neuere Deutsche Literatur, Note: 1,7, Albert-Ludwigs-Universität Freiburg, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Botho Strauß gehört zweifelsohne zu den wohl meist diskutiertesten und mitunter auch sehr häufig gespielten Dramatikern der zeitgenössischen Gegenwartsliteratur. Berühmtheit erreichte er unter anderem mit seinem 1993 erschienenen Essay "Anschwellender Bocksgesang". Drei Jahre später erschien sein mit Spannung erwartetes Drama mit dem Titel "Ithaka". Auch dieses löste bereits im Vorfeld eine große Debatte aus, da zum Beispiel der berühmte Schauspieler Helmut Griem sich weigerte, die Rolle des Odysseus zu spielen und daher von der Rolle zurücktrat. Mit Spannung erwartet wurde es vor allem deshalb, weil man spekulierte, dass das Stück in einem inhaltlichen Zusammenhang zum Anschwellenden Bocksgesang stehen würde. In dieser Arbeit wird nun Ithaka analysiert. Hierzu werden zentrale Stellen des Dramas detailliert untersucht und bewertet. Vor allem die Bearbeitungstendenz Strauß' im Unterschied zum Prätext der Odyssee von Homer liefert aufschlussreiche Erkenntnisse zu Strauß' Mythoskonzeption. Diese Bearbeitungstendenz zeigt deutlich, dass es Strauß trotz der oftmals erdrückenden Nähe am epischen Original gelungen ist, eigene Akzente zu setzen. Hierzu muss während der Analyse des Textes zwischen dem poetologischen Programm, welches als eine Art Überbau dient, und den inhaltlichen Aussagen, die sozusagen von ebendiesem Programm abhängen, differenziert werden. Anhand einer exemplarischen Untersuchung soll also die Beschaffenheit des Überbaus konkretisiert werden. In dieser Arbeit wird also der Versuch unternommen, zu zeigen, dass die Ithaka keinesfalls eine reine eins-zu-eins-Umsetzung des Anschwellenden Bocksgesangs in ein Drama ist, sondern dass es sich um einiges komplexer verhält.
