About the Author: Edward S. Smith, Jr., is currently a Real Estate Instructor and Consultant. He is a licensed Real Estate Broker in Connecticut and New York, specializing in Commercial and Investment Real Estate, with over 40 years of brokerage experience. For eleven years, prior to 2015, he was Regional Director for Coldwell Banker Commercial NRT in CT and NY. He previously served as a "Consultant to the Trade" and had his own Brokerage firm. He has authored nine other books on commercial real estate, including four textbooks with instructor training materials used to teach commercial courses throughout the United States. He has written a monthly column "The Commercial Classroom", for the New York Real Estate Journal for the past twelve years and has over 180 published articles on Commercial and Investment Real Estate. Mr. Smith is an Instructors Training Institute (ITI) graduate and has 19 years' experience teaching real estate courses. He has developed over a dozen continuing education courses and the Commercial and Investment Real Estate Certification Programs. Currently, he serves on the Boards of Directors of the Metro-Long Island Chapter of NYSCAR, and the Long Island Commercial Network (LICN). He is Past President of: the New York State Commercial Association of Realtors(R) (NYSCAR), the Metro-LI Chapter of NYSCAR and the Long Island Commercial Network. He has also served as a Director of the New York State Association of Realtors, the Long Island Board of Realtors(R) and the Real Estate Practitioners Institute at Long Island University.
