Marla Madderra fell in love with the railroad while working with light rail transit, but her health soon threatened her career. She always seemed to be fatigued and in pain.
Eventually, she had no choice but to go on disability.
Diagnosed with fibromyalgia and Raynaud's syndrome, Marla was on multiple medications-too many, according to one doctor and hurt constantly. She prayed for healing, but was not healed.
Challenged to examine her faith, Marla learned to change her belief system. She focused more on God and placing herself wholly in his hands. And as she did so, she changed.
Marla spoke differently, viewed the Bible differently, and experienced God differently. And as she changed, the healing she so desperately needed finally came into her life.
A story of one woman's journey through illness, Receiving My Healing recounts how Marla became ill, coped with her disability, and eventually stepped into the role God created for her: to teach others how to receive healing when they need it the most. God wants you well-with his help you can regain your health.
About the Author: Born into a Mormon household in the small community of Hermiston, Oregon, Marla Madderra was the fifth of six children. After engaging in a deep study of her faith in the 1990s, she renounced Mormonism, giving her life to the Lord and becoming a born again Christian.
Madderra's life has been a mix of obstacles and wonders. Her first marriage brought two wonderful daughters who gave her purpose and kept her going when times got tough. Her first two marriages ended in divorce, and her third husband was taken home to Jesus early in life.
During this time, Madderra learned and grew with her newfound faith. Now married to the love of her life, Michael, Madderra is a ministry director at her church. Together, they have five children, eight grandchildren, and two dogs.
