Im Herbst 1247: Als der Mönch Carolus sein Winterquartier in der Nähe von Bremen beziehen soll, hat er bereits 180 Tage anstrengendster Wanderung und viele Abenteuer hinter sich. Doch seine Ruhe ist so umkämpft wie das Reich seiner Zeit: Von Anfang an ist er in die Kämpfe und die Zerrissenheit seiner Tage einbezogen. Und der große Bericht, den er an seinen Abt schreiben soll, der wird ein Spiegel dieser Verhältnisse. Aber auf der Suche nach seinen Erinnerungen - und dem Erinnern, der Recordatio, überhaupt - zerbricht das Bild einer geordneten Welt in ihm selbst, und er muss sich die Frage stellen, wer er selbst ist. Und welche Rolle und Aufgabe er in diesem Gefüge hat. Und wer ist dieser Gott, der sich - angeblich - an uns erinnert, wenn doch alles so scheint, als hätte er uns vergessen und würde uns einem gleichgültigen Schicksal überlassen? Als Gott sich seiner erinnert, erlebt er zunächst beissende Gleichgültigkeit, schmerzvolle Liebe und ruhelose Rast. Doch genau darin wächst ihm eine eigene Rolle zu, entwickelt er - mutig - eine eigene Identität, und Carolus spürt seine wirkliche Persönlichkeit. Und seinen Platz im Leben. "Recordatio" ist eine Reflexion über Zeit, Leben und Ewigkeit.
About the Author: Pierre Maurice hat in Deutschland, England und der Schweiz Philosophie, Geschichte, Sinologie sowie weitere technische und rechtliche Themen studiert und z.T. auch unterrichtet. Als PR-Mann, Journalist und Ghost-Writer kam er mit einer Vielzahl von zum Teil bedeutenden Persönlichkeiten und Künstlern zusammen und hat mit ihnen oder für sie gearbeitet. Einfluss auf sein Denken haben antike oder mittelalterliche Autoren, wie Aristoteles, Paulus, die Stoiker, Augustinus oder Luther. Unter den Modernen ist der Einfluss Husserls und Heideggers, aber auch von J. Searle spürbar. Die fiktiven Gestalten seiner Erzählungen kreuzen sich regelmässig mit historisch gut greifbaren tatsächlichen Figuren, deren Umfeld und Realität Pierre Maurice so exakt es geht porträtiert, bzw. in seine Geschichte mit einbezieht. So entsteht ein Kaleidoskop der von ihm beschriebenen Zeiten und Situationen, das - in der Diktion und Vorstellungswelt einer vergangenen Zeit - Gegenwärtiges paradigmatisch reflektiert.
