Jeffrey Talpis, born on 28 October 1941, at Montreal, Canada. Studied at McGill University, Montreal, Quebec, where he received his Bachelor of Law, and at the University of Montreal, Quebec, where he received his Masters
and Doctorate of Law. Full Professor in the Faculty of Law at the University of Montreal, a member of the Notarial Bar of the Province of Quebec, and a practising notary, arbitrator and mediator.
Has been a visiting professor at Duke University, North Carolina, and has been an invited professor at universities in Canada, Europe, United States, Mexico and Brazil.
Served as the special consultant to the Government of Quebec on the codification of Book X, "Private International Law", of the Civil Code of Quebec of 1994, and is currently, and has been since its inception in 1994, a Canadian delegate to the NAFTA 2022 Advisory Committee on International Private Commercial Disputes, dealing with the resolution of international commercial disputes by arbitration, mediation and other informal dispute resolution procedures.
Has authored over 150 scholarly articles and reports on private international law, in particular in the areas of security financing, matrimonial property law, estates and trusts, international litigation, and mediation and the prevention of international disputes.
Academician of the Academy of International Estate and Trust Law. Awarded the 2005 Laureate of the Paul-André Crépeau Lifetime Achievement Award by the Quebec division of the Canadian Bar Association for his contribution
in the area of commercial and private international law. Also received the Order of Merit and Lifetime Achievement Award in 2007 by the International Union of Latin Notaries.

Evelyne Lagrange, née le 7 septembre 1971 à Annecy. Professeur de droit public à l'Ecole de droit de la Sorbonne (Université Paris I (Panthéon-Sorbonne)). Membre de l'Institut de recherche en droit international et
européen de la Sorbonne (Iredies) depuis 2007; membre de la Société française pour le droit international et membre du Conseil national des universités (France, 2011-2015).
Diplômée de l'Institut d'études politiques de Paris (1993), docteur en droit public (2000), agrégée de droit public (2002).
A enseigné à l'Université du Maine (Le Mans, 2000-2002), à l'Université Rennes I (2002-2007), à l'Institut d'études politiques de Paris, à l'Université Paris- Dauphine et à l'Université Paris VIII. A l'Université Paris I Panthéon-Sorbonne,
enseigne principalement le droit international général et le droit des organisations internationales.
A soutenu sa thèse, préparée à l'Université Paris I (Panthéon-Sorbonne) sous la direction du professeur Jean-Pierre Quéneudec, en 2000. Cette thèse a été publiée chez Brill en 2002 sous l'intitulé La représentation institutionnelle dans l'ordre international.
Ses recherches actuelles portent sur le contentieux international, l'histoire de la doctrine, la pratique allemande du droit international, les rapports de systèmes, les compétences de l'Etat et le droit des organisations internationales. Codirige un ouvrage collectif entrepris par l'Iredies, avec une quarantaine de contributions de France et d'autres pays européens: le Traité de droit des organisations internationales, à paraître à la Librairie générale de droit et de jurisprudence (LGDJ) (Paris), en 2013.
La préparation de la version écrite du présent cours spécial a bénéficié d'un séjour de recherches effectué en délégation au Centre national de la recherche scientifique (CNRS), Centre Marc Bloch, Berlin (2008).
