Mahnoush H. Arsanjani, born on 11 March 1949, at Tehran, Iran. Graduated from the National University of Iran, School of Law (1971, LL.B);
Yale Law School (1974, LL.M, and 1977, JSD (Doctorate of Law)).
Served in the legal office of the United Nations for 32 years. Was Director of Codification Division, Office of Legal Affairs, United Nations, Secretary of the International Law Commission and Secretary of the Committee of the Whole of the Rome Conference on the Establishment of the International Criminal Court. Served as a member, Expert Group Established by the 2008 Ad Hoc Energy Ministers Meetings Held in Jeddah and London (Enhancing the Framework of Dialogue among Oil and Gas Producer and Consumer Countries -- International Energy Forum (2008-2009) ); Consultant, International Energy Forum, Charter of the International Energy Forum (2010); Member, Bahrain Independent Commission of Inquiry (2011).
Visiting Professor, City University of Hong Kong, School of Law (October 2011).
Judge, World Bank Administrative Tribunal (since 2013). Consultant, public international law and international investment law. Member, Board of Editors of the American Journal of International Law; Member, Editorial Board, International Criminal Law Series; Member, International Advisory Board of the School of Law of City University of Hong Kong (since 2007); Member, Board of Editors, Studies in Intercultural Human Rights.

Est ou a été assistant au Collège de France auprès de la chaire de droit international de René-Jean Dupuy; prix de recherches « Forest »; secrétaire de rédaction de la Revue générale de droit international public puis membre du comité de rédaction et responsable de la chronique « Jurisprudence française en matière de droit international public »; assistant de droit public à l'Université Paris II (Panthéon-Assas); assesseur à la Commission des recours des réfugiés (actuelle Cour nationale de l'asile), en tant que représentant du Haut Commissaire des Nations Unies pour les réfugiés, puis membre permanent des sections réunies de ladite cour; professeur à l'Université de Caen, puis à l'Université Paris II (Panthéon-Assas); codirecteur de la revue Droits. Revue française de théorie, de philosophie et de culture juridiques puis membre du conseil de rédaction de cette revue; chargé de conférences à l'Institut d'études politiques de Paris; directeur de l'Institut Michel Villey pour la culture juridique et la philosophie du droit de Paris II; codirecteur du Dictionnaire de la culture juridique (PUF, 2003); membre du jury d'agrégation d'histoire du droit; membre du comité de rédaction du Journal of the History of International Law; directeur du Master 2 recherches de philosophie du droit et droit politique de Paris II; ancien avocat à la Cour; consultant dans diverses affaires et divers arbitrages.
