Katharina Boele-Woelki, born in 1956, in Baden-Baden.
Dean of Bucerius Law School, the first private law school in Germany, where she also serves as the Claussen Simon Foundation Professor of Comparative Law. An extraordinary Professor for Legal Research at the University of the Western Cape, South Africa. Professor of Private International Law, Comparative Law and Family Law at Utrecht University, Netherlands (until September 2015). Established, in 2001, the Commission on European Family Law (CEFL) and, in 2007, the Utrecht Centre for European Research into Family Law (UCERF).
Member and board member of various professional associations and institutions, such as the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Völkerrecht and the Swiss Institute of Comparative Law. Serves on editorial boards for Global, European and South African law journals, book series and open access platforms.
Elected (in 2014) president of the International Academy of Comparative Law. Taught at The Hague Academy of International Law (in 2009) and was awarded honorary doctorates from the Universities of Uppsala, Lausanne and Antwerp, as well as the Anneliese Maier-Forschungspreis from the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation. Elected (in 2016) member of the Curatorium of The Hague Academy of International Law and member of the Academia Europea.

María Cecilia Fresnedo de Aguirre, born in Montevideo, Uruguay, 1 November 1951.
Studied Law at the University of the Republic, Montevideo, Uruguay (1970-1977) (Attorney, 1974, and Doctor in Law and Social Sciences, 1977); Professor of Private International Law at the University of the Republic, School of Law.
Teaching and research activities (since 1984); Member of the Uruguayan Institute of Private International Law (since 1984); Professor of Private International Law at the Catholic University of Uruguay, School of Law. Teaching and research activities (since 1994); Academic Secretary of the Uruguayan Institute of Private International Law, University of the Republic (since 2010); Director of the International Law Department at the Catholic University of Uruguay (since 2014); Visiting Professor at several universities in various countries; lecturer in several conferences and seminars in various countries; research Fulbright scholarship, University of California at Davis (1988); research scholarship at UNIDROIT
(1998).
Member of the Uruguayan delegation to the Fourth, Fifth and Sixth Inter-American Specialized Conference on Private International Law (Montevideo, 1989; Mexico, 1994; Washington, 2002); Member of the Uruguayan delegation to the Technical Commission of the MERCOSUR Justice Ministries (1997-2002); Delegate of Uruguay and of the Inter-American Children's Institute at several Special Commissions of the Hague Conference of Private International Law (2002-2006); Member of the Working Group in charge of the drafting of the Uruguayan General Act on Private International Law; legal consultant; member of several Academic Institutions - national and international - and of the Editorial Boards of several Law Reviews.
