Walking down a dirt path to a desired destination, every one of us has several options. One option is to get discouraged by the distance to the desired destination but these rarely arrive in a timely manner if at all. Some not only decide to give up, they start thinking it entertaining to impede others. Another choice is to look at the dirt and trudge towards the goal with determination missing the beauty all around. Others may find a friend and pass the time walking and enjoying their company. Of the first four, these find that the time walking is more enjoyable. But, the person that sees all the beauty of the path, surrounding trees and animals finds the journey even more enjoyable. They enjoy the different sights, sounds and smells of their journey. The ones that find their journey the most enjoyable and the most rewarding are the ones that help others along the way. They see the trees and take joy in their beauty and smell of their blossoms. They also see how the roots and ruts can impede others so they make the road better for those that follow. They not only desire the destination but the welfare of others. They gladly accept the help of others in return. These take in all that is around them, get in and work and take joy in their work. They find that they not only walk with those that were their friends -- they also walk with those that become their friends. It is very refreshing to find and walk with these individuals. Earning our paycheck is very much like walking that dirt path. Our destinations are diverse but we all have to walk along that path at some point in our lives. What principles do we live by? Are we only to come to work to see how little we can do to get the paycheck? Do we entertain ourselves with the misery of others? If we find that this journey is boring, are we like the one that only sees that path and not the beauty of the journey? Do we find ourselves with only a few true friends on our journey? Or, do we try and take in every bit of information we can to help others -- finding joy in our learning, its application and how it leads us to more learning. What desires do we have: to constantly improve ourselves or to find out how to make ourselves comfortable? Are we applying new principles to our character or are we satisfied that we have done all we need? These are questions that when consistently asked, can help us refresh our behaviors, dust off our character and evaluate our habits. Refreshing Employment tries to help us do just that, take a new look at how we work. This not only helps us to work better but makes the workplace refreshing for those that work with us. If applied, these principles can improve moral in the workplace, increase efficiency and help anyone be the right person for their ideal job.
