About the Book

This is an inspiring and motivational story about growing up without a father in the home, in a crime-ridden neighborhood where drug dealers ran the corner store. It is a captivating story of how young OJ dealt with his fears of bullies and lack of self-confidence, while also navigating the nuances of inner city living. In his story, OJ shares a lot of the choices he made throughout his life- some good and some not so good. He describes his three main regrets in his life that came as a result of his inner-city experiences. In The Reinvention of OJ Smith: From the Ghetto Streets to Corporate America, OJ kept experiencing GOD's grace and presence in his life. He learned how to use the cards he was dealt. He overcame the fears associated with bullies, fighting and shootings, and learned to live a fearless life. Eventually, he became an executive in corporate America as a result of using his street smarts, sports background and charisma. OJ learned how to fit into a world he never imagined possible as a child. Through faith and perseverance, this remarkable and inspiring story shows what happens when dreams of a life without danger come true.
About the Author: OJ Smith AKA OJBTalkin is a charismatic, impactful, high energy entertainer. OJ has recently retired from corporate America after working 30 years in a role of leadership. His level of leadership would often have him on stage in front of an audience delivering messages where he'd always find ways to insert laughter. In 2003, my comedic debut came in a dare at a Texas open mic restaurant in front of over 200. In my 10 minute performance I left the crowd wanting more and the restaurant managers begging me to return. OJ has performed comedy on various stages throughout Ohio and from Seattle to Dallas to St Louis to New York to Detroit. Currently residing in Cincinnati, I'm a stay at home parent, musician(OJBBassin), comedian (OJBTalkin), motivational speaker and now a published author. OJ (Ojbeballin) has coached little league baseball, Jr High basketball and football. His inner city youth football team won a Pop Warner national championship in 1993. He uses his charismatic and magnetic personality, education, professional experiences, street smarts and sports background to reach, encourage, inspire and motivate various audiences.?As a musician (bass guitar), I began playing songs that I liked by ear. I've been playing for nearly 9 years now.I picked up the bass as a promise to my son. He was 1 year into lessons on his guitar. In an effort to keep him encouraged to stick with it I told him I'd buy a bass guitar and begin playing if he continued with his lessons. For several years we played recitals together.Over the past 6 years I've freelanced my bass playing skills for several local churches in the Cincinnati area and played with some of the finest musicians in the area.OJ is available to speak at your upcoming church, school, business or civic event. He can motivate and inspire your audience from kids to teens to adults on numerous topics such as: * Finding your passion after retirement* Tithe and Offering (an inspiring testimony)* Healthy Marriages (Published 2019)* Minority in corporate America * Choices (the choices we make and the impact on our lives)* Healthy Families (We Are Family - Living within a Healthy Family Relationship)* Understanding your purpose* Successfully Pathing from Inner City streets to Corporate America (The Reinvention of OJ Smith - publishing March 2020)* S.L.A.M.D.U.N.K (The most efficient shot in basketball, a highly efficient approach in life
