About the Book

"Celui qui possède la Connaissance sait d'où il vient et où il va"

Les deux textes présentés en intégralité dans ce livre sont "Connaissance du Soi" de Shankara, et "L'évangile selon (Judas) Thomas" - paroles et paraboles de Jésus.

Leurs dates de rédaction sont séparées d'environ dix siècles. Chacun a été écrit dans un lieu éloigné de l'autre par des milliers de kilomètres: l'Inde et la Palestine.
Il en est de même de la culture et du contexte socio-historique dans lesquels ils furent rédigés.

Pourtant, ces deux textes contiennent les mêmes principes universels, qui traversent le temps et l'espace parce qu'ils véhiculent par essence l'Absolu. Leur message est le retour à l'Un, au Principe: la fin de la dualité.

Les deux maîtres invitent leur auditoire à une aventure intérieure, à une recherche intime, patiente, et conduisant progressivement (parfois de façon fulgurante) à un état merveilleux (Jésus parle de résurrection, Shankara d'éveil), qui permet de recevoir le Royaume du Père (selon Jésus) ou d'accueillir le Soi (selon Shankara).

Aujourd'hui, comme hier, l'enseignement est dur à entendre, à saisir et à appliquer. Pour beaucoup, il est inconcevable car il recommande la dissolution de toutes les images de Dieu, les croyances qui abondent à son encontre et tout ce qui va avec (les interdits alimentaires, les dogmes, les lois, les règles...). Jésus et Shankara l'affirment: en dehors d'une prise de conscience, d'une attente lumineuse (vigilance vis-à-vis de l'activité du mental), rien n'est nécessaire.

Pour beaucoup, qui souhaitent qu'on leur dise quoi penser, quoi faire pour connaître un Dieu créé de toutes pièces, ce message attisera la colère, voire la haine, le rejet et l'indifférence. Pour d'autres, qui veulent en finir avec la croyance religieuse ou pseudo-spirituelle, ce peut être le début d'une aventure intérieure et d'un changement véritable, bâti sur le roc de l'Expérience, et non sur le sable mou et fluctuant du mental.

Extraits: - "Jésus dit: Le Royaume du Père est pareil à un homme qui veut tuer un grand personnage. Dans sa maison, il a dégainé l'épée et il l'a plantée dans le mur pour s'assurer que sa main serait ferme. Ensuite il a tué le grand personnage" (Logion 98).- "De même que la lumière est la nature même de soleil, que la froideur est celle de l'eau, que la chaleur est celle du feu, de même l'être-té, la conscience, la félicité, l'éternité et le caractère absolu sont la nature même du Soi" (Sentence 24).
