About the Book

'Return to Gallanvaig' is the second part of the "Quirk of Destiny" trilogy, an apocalyptic tale of devastation and destruction caused by the widespread introduction of genetically modified food, resulting in the decimation of the human race and the rise of the "Genies," or gene-mutated humans.

Two years have passed since the first outbreak and the Genies, led by Balthazar, the epitome of evil with paranormal powers, hatch a plan to increase their diseased race, despite the ravages of GM poisoning.

Meanwhile, a ruthless shadowy group emerges, intent on manipulating world events, causing death and destruction, with the ultimate aim to take control of the surviving world population. They attack their sworn enemies, the Genies and inveigle the leaders of the nations of the world. The only hope for the survival of humankind is the backlash from the GM-free survivors.Could it happen? It already is. But will good triumph over evil?

Acclaim for Return to Gallanvaig
'Return to Gallanvaig is a work of fiction but it's message comes through loud and clear: we disrespect nature at our peril. The second in a post-apocalyptic trilogy, this novel pits a group of vegan environmentalists against horribly deformed "Genies" and a shadowy group intent on restoring the old world order. Twists and turns abound. From GM crops and the powerful pesticides they are so liberally sprayed with, to nuclear weapons and the banking crisis, current, real-world problems are taken to extreme conclusions that should make readers think and take stock.' Liz O'Neill - Director of GM Freeze.

'In her first novel, A Quirk of Destiny, Catherine Greenall gave us a terrifying look at a world where genetically modified food has caused a deadly epidemic to sweep the globe causing death and destruction. The subject matter is close to the author's heart. Mensa member Catherine wrote what was the first in what is to be a trilogy with a career as a government scientist behind her - and a remaining passion for veganism and environmentalism.
Now she continues the story with Return to Gallanvaig. It's two years on since the first outbreak of the epidemic and mutants, the evil 'Genies', are plotting to increase the reach of their diseased race - while another, secretive, group emerges with plans of its own to take control of what's left of the Earth's population. And the GM-free survivors are caught in the middle... Will they lead a fightback? Can humankind survive?
You'll gather from the plotlines that while Catherine is obviously using her background - and her beliefs - to provide us with a message it is done not in a leaden-fisted manner but by way of an exciting and multi-layered tale which takes us on an exciting, page-turning, spine-chilling journey. A combination, then, of taut story-telling and thoughtful science.' Brian Page Mensa Magazine
