About the Book

Young Mountain Hill, not more than a boy, killed a man in defense of his mother. Knowing the carpetbaggers of the post Civil War Era would not understand this, he had to flee his home and family to a savage land and time to make it on his own. His only place to hide was in Texas, a land so big anyone could get lost to the law. In his travels he met the girl who could tame his wandering lust. The timing was wrong and he traveled on to Texas to hunt buffalo with untamed mountain men and hunters. Getting washed down stream, he was saved by Indians and became a semi-captive. While living with these Indians he was able to amass a fortune in hide trading. Tragedy took his young wife and twin sons when his village was attacked during one of his trips to trade furs. Returning to civilization he finds a long lost brother. Over a period of time he and his brother decide to return to Alabama and face the law to clear Mountains name. Awaiting him at home was more than the law. His long lost love. Would there be a future for them?

About the Author: James F. Hill was born in Jasper, Alabama. As a young boy he was always obsessed with horses and exploring around the country, wishing he had been born in what he called cowboy days. He learned to cook campfire delicacies on the creek banks at the age of nine and ten, crawdads being his specialty. In high school he began to write poems and songs that he kept in a note book. As an avid reader, the school library was his favorite place. At a young age he hitchhiked across the United States, jumped trains, worked at a variety of jobs, then joined the Army during the Vietnam era. After the Army he trained as a barber where many lives touched his, old and young alike. After he married he and his wife put each other through college. Both graduated from Arkansas State University with a BSE in Education. They traveled from state to state while raising a family of seven, five boys and two girls.

His writings reflect the lives of ancestors as well as present day family members placed in the plots of the stories. With grandchildren and their everyday lives the stories will never cease with this active story teller.
