About the Book

The little fishing village of Santa Ana had remained unchanged for centuries until local boy Nuno seizes the opportunity to become a property developer and changes the village forever. To the consternation of the villagers, Nuno's developments bring an influx of Brits who come looking for their place in the sun. The newcomers include Joan and Roger from, Scunthorpe who open a cafe "The Fat Lemon" which soon becomes the hub of the ex pat community, where problems are solved, secrets are shared and deals and done. Then there is Jools from Birmingham, the 30's something party animal who comes looking for fun but finds so much more and Paul, the school teacher from Southampton who has suffered a major breakdown but hides a dark secret. Kenny and Carol are the market traders from Essex who are hoping a fresh start in the sun will save their ailing marriage. It is a story that is sometimes funny and sometimes sad as it follows the lives and loves of these and other characters as they pursue their hopes and dreams.
About the Author: Kath left school at fifteen without qualifications and did a variety of jobs. When her children were young she returned to education and attended Coventry University where she graduated with a BA (Hons). She then went on to Warwick University and graduated with a Masters degree and Social Work qualification. She worked for many years in social work and Counselling settings. She always enjoyed writing but the business of earning a living got in the way. Early retirement liberated her and so she had the time to write and this is her third book. She spends time at the family property in Portugal and although the characters in the story are fictitious, the country and its atmosphere has inspired this story. Kath is currently attempting to learn Spanish and has created a cottage garden. She loves spending time with family and friends. She had two adult children, two beautiful grand-daughters and a cuddly Tibetan Terrier called Smudge.
