Ein Modell der künstlerischen Kooperation in Kleingruppen Das Buch bietet einen Beitrag zur Geschichte und Soziologie der Rockmusik und thematisiert die Künstlerexistenz im Show - Business. Es zeigt die Musiker in ihren vielfältigen sozialen Verflechtungen und gibt einen Einblick in den Produktionsprozeß von Rockmusik. Das Ziel ist dabei die Rockband als Sozialverband vorzustellen, der seinen Erfolg den spezifischen Kooperationsstrategien aller Mitglieder verdankt. Dabei ist die zentrale Behauptung des Buches: Nicht einzelne Musiker, sondern die Rockband ist das Künstlersubjekt und ohne die spezifischen Formen des Zusammenwirkens, die das Buch darstellen will, ist die Herstellung von Rockmusik nicht denkbar. Für den Zeitabschnitt von 1963 bis etwa 1970 wird ein Einblick in die für diese Zeit wesentlichen Veränderungen der sozialen und ökonomischen Entstehungsbedingungen der Rock- und Popszene sowie des Selbst- und Fremdbildes des Musikers als Künstler gegeben. Das verwendete Interviewmaterial, das Musiker, Produzenten, Techniker und Manager zu Wort kommen läßt, beleuchtet die verschiedenen Aspekte der Musik und des dazu gehörenden sozialen und ökonomischen Umfeldes. Der Text liefert die verschiedenen Begründungen, aus denen heraus sich Musiker zu einer Band zusammenschließen und es werden die geschäftlichen Aspekte der Rockmusik, wie sie sich in den Verhältnissen der Musiker zu Managern und Plattenfirmen ausdrücken, dargestellt und so werden die Auswirkungen der Ökonomie auf die künstlerischen Aussagen verdeutlicht. Der Liveauftritt und die Funktion des Konzertereignisses für Musiker und Publikum wird untersucht sowie die Tourneen unter den Aspekten von technischen und logistischen Großunternehmungen vorgeführt. Ein Einblick in den Aufnahmeprozeß, die Bedeutung der Studiotechnik und die Rolle der Produzenten und Tontechniker macht klar, in wie hohem Maße Rockmusik von der Kooperation mit Außenstehenden, also Nichtbandmitgliedern lebt und welchen Anteil di
