Magisterarbeit aus dem Jahr 2008 im Fachbereich Geschichte Europas - Neuzeit, Absolutismus, Industrialisierung, Note: 2,3, Albert-Ludwigs-Universität Freiburg, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: In jeder Geschichtsepoche gab es Personen, die aufgrund unterschiedlicher Eigenschaften und Umstände in der besonderen Gunst ihres Herrschers standen und speziellen Einfluss auf dessen Politik und Entscheidungsgewalt nehmen konnten. Daher lässt sich das Phänomen der Günstlinge nicht auf eine spezifische Dekade oder ein spezifisches Jahrhundert limitieren.1 Die Forschung ist sich allerdings weitgehend einig, dass das 17. Jahrhundert als klassisches Zeitalter der Günstlinge betrachtet werden kann.2 Es soll an dieser Stelle noch darauf hingewiesen werden, dass es für den Begriff des Günstlings, wie an späterer Stelle noch dargestellt wird, verschiedene Bezeichnungen gibt.3 Im 17. Jahrhundert waren Günstlinge ein gesamteuropäisches Phänomen, welches auch in der Öffentlichkeit bekannt war. Daher kann durchaus von einer Art "Quasi- Institutionalisierung" des Günstlingswesens im 17. Jahrhunderts gesprochen werden.4 Im Papsttum war dies auch de jure der Fall - das Amt des Kardinalnepoten stellte seit 1538 ein offizielles Amt dar und weist, wie unten noch gezeigt wird (↓ Kap. 3.3), in vielen Teilen Gemeinsamkeiten mit den Günstlingen der weltlichen Herrscher auf. Die Forschung beschäftigt sich seit Mitte der 1990er Jahre mit der Günstlingsthematik. Bereits 1974 erschien ein Aufsatz von Jean Bérenger5 zu diesem Thema. Dieser fand zum damaligen Zeitpunkt aber wenig Resonanz. Neben zahlreichen Einzelstudien über prominente Günstlinge wie Richelieu, Olivares und Buckingham stellt der 1999 erschienene Band "The world of the favourite" einen wichtigen Beitrag zur Forschung dar.6 Des Weiteren erschien 2003 ein Band, mit dem Titel "Der zweite Mann im Staat, dessen Fokus auf deutschen Fällen liegt sowie das Werk "Der Fall des Günstlings"7, das sich mit unterschiedlichen Günstlingen in ganz Europa un
