About the Book

This book's origin dates back to the beginning of 1900s. Appalachian people were mostly seen as a poor and destitute population. However, with a more indepth study, there seems to be the one evidence to prove their wealth and that is their drive for family. Their parents worked such hard jobs with daily struggles to barely survive. They never had the knowledge of luxuries, never seen or had them. Generation after generation it seemed times were changing with older people wanting to stay in the same living mode. They were 'too old to change', thus the world passed them by. But not before their families were taught the three "G's" which were God, Give til it hurts and don't complain or boast, and Go help those in need. The "G's" were passed on to each generation.Through the child's eyes stories were told with remembrances of days gone by. Life was more simple when a child but adulthood brought responsibilities and the three "G's". Children have their own interpretation of how and why circumstances occurred. Stories and poems will allude to such happenings. The reader can visualize the era, life style, and hardships for the families written herein.Adulthood brings excitement and joy for many in the modern world. Luxuries are afforded to many households but time is the most valuable of all lives. The "rat race" steals our dreams, takes away our precious time with loved ones, deflates our feelings of self-worth. We somehow manage to hang on to our dreams by a measly thread of hope. Our faith in God keeps us on the pathway of hope. Our love for family keeps us human and it shines light on those around us on a daily basis. Love is the greatest gift anyone should want to receive and most importantly to give. This author has been taught throughout her life of bringing children into this world, surviving and enduring at all costs to provide for them but most of all to show complete and unconditional love for and to them. Out of their lives have brought grandbabies who bring smiles to my face, overflows my heart, and has taught me more about love then I would ever have learned without them. My daughters and grandbabies have given me something no one else could on this earth, and that is the true love of family! I love each of you more than you will ever know or understand. This Momma and Grammy sure is blessed! The latter part of the book is certainly not the least. It's solely written to and about my children and grandchildren. Their stories are hilarious and have gotten me through many rough days. I've written poems about each child and grandchild in hopes of showing how strong my love is for them. This book, especially the poems, is my legacy for them to know the importance of accepting and giving love, to never allow others to make them feel less important, and to always love their families unconditionally. It doesn't mean they have to agree with all issues, only to let them know they're still loved. Grammy's Blessings is just that, blessed beyond measure throughout my childhood, growing into a responsible adult, traveling on into grandparent phase of my life. As I've gotten older, I realize emotions, physical and mental abilities have changed but one thing which won't is my love for family, friends and humankind. Our world needs a lot more TLC for each other. We shouldn't be deceived by those wanting to 'blind side' us but rather take our love of humanity and look 'outside the box'. Time goes on even when we do not so let's love wholeheartedly throughout our life time, forgive those who hurt us, devote more space to grow their love. This Grammy counts her blessings each day knowing the sometimes smaller will end in larger ones. We see m to waste time wanting immediate instead of flowing through our paths and receiving when it is destined. Keep your dreams alive but also know they may send in a direction you have not fully interpreted. Wait. Count your blessings!
