About the Author: Bradney W. Simon is a JA Certified Master Bench Jeweler whose jewelry experience began in 1968 when at age 12 he taught himself to cut and polish agates and set them in plated jewelry. He learned how to make jewelry using casting and fabrication techniques while attending Quincy Senior High School of Fine Arts. He furthered his education at Gem City College, where he studied Jewelry Manufacturing and Business Management. Bradney has worked in the Jewelry Industry since graduation from college. He has worked in several AGS guild stores. He also worked for a chain store, setting up and managing shops in eight retail locations. In addition he owned and operated a trade shop, overseeing the work of four jewelers serving 20 retail accounts. He is known for his quality custom jewelry manufacturing, expert jewelry repair, and professional stone setting. He is an imaginative and creative jeweler, who has won regional Design awards in both Illinois and South Carolina. He has won three national awards, the 1997 Vision Award for Quality from the American Pearl Company, the 1998 JCK Retail Jewelers Design Competition, and the 1998 Platinum Passion Award from Platinum Guild International. Bradney has been active in the jewelry industry attending numerous conventions, conferences, and seminars. He served on the Board of Directors of the Illinois Jewelers Association and currently serves on the South Carolina board. He received an Award of Appreciation "For his leadership and unyielding commitment to the Board of Directors of IJA." In addition to the Certified Master Bench Jeweler, Brad also has received the title of JA Certified Store Manager. Bradney is an accomplished speaker, and a member of Toastmasters International.
