About the Book

Nazis in America? Yes, it's true. In 1940's America, Hitler tried to gain a foot hold amongst those who were sympathetic with his cause. The ultimate prize for helping him attain his goal was for one nefarious religious organization to earn the right to possess all of the souls in the United States and Canada. But in one little town in the boot heel of Missouri, Hitler's plans were foiled. Of course, most of the good citizens never knew how much danger they were nearly in or that they were disturbing any plans of the Third Reich. But dastardly deeds were roiling behind the scenes of the country store and the county fair. And a 10 year old boy was right in the big middle of all the happenings. This is his story and it will have you laughing buoyantly, knitting your brow in consternation and shaking your head disbelievingly at how his young mind perceived the events of the times.
About the Author: By Sybrina Durant - Robert S. Wiltshire, the author, was born on a blustery, snowy day - thus he was christened with the middle name Snow. That's the story he always told, anyway. That little boy, who also had snow-white hair, soon became known as Bobby Snow to his family. He was a handful for his parents, especially his mother, who probably wondered at times if he'd make it to adulthood. His boyhood adventures were stressful enough to cause any mother's hair to turn gray real quick. Our Dad loved to regale - what we thought of as, his captive audiences - with wild and crazy tales. But the truth was, everyone loved to listen to his stories, egging him on at each twist and turn. Each was finely crafted to bring out a smile here and a belly laugh there. His greatest joy late in his life was seeing genuine smiles and hearing merry laughter from those people he loved most. This story was written by a 75-year-old man from his memories as a ten-year-old boy. Naturally, many of those memories may have been embellished over the years. I have done a lot of research while editing his book to try to find concrete evidence of the local events described herein. I must say that it has been a very difficult task to track down much of anything that is historically verifiable, and I'm left wondering how much of this story was simply meant to be a creative and entertaining endeavor and how much of it really did occur. I've finally come to the conclusion that just about every bit of it must have been made up by that incorrigible Bobby Snow just for the fun of it. So I've left the names of the people and places intact. I had planned to change them to protect the innocent but in all actuality there's so much fantasy mixed in amongst such a very small amount of reality that I don't see how too much harm could be done to anyone's reputation after so many years. Robert Wiltshire left this earth on June 25, 2011. I wish he had lived long enough to hold his very own novel in his hands. I wish he could show this memoir to everyone and proudly proclaim, "I wrote this!" I can just imagine his happiness at having accomplished such a thing. Bobby relished entertaining family and friends with stories from his past, and everyone loved to hear them over and over again. His joyful noise is sorely missed by all who knew him.
