Länder - Neuzeit, Absolutismus, Industrialisierung, Universität Stuttgart, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Nach der Eroberung Schlesiens garantierte Friedrich der Große im Breslau-er Präliminarfrieden zwischen Preußen und Österreich vom 11. Juni die Rechte und Privilegien der katholischen Bevölkerung in Schlesien zu erhalten. Diese Zusicherung ließ der König weitestgehend unangetastet, selbst als der Krieg um Schlesien zwei Jahre später wieder ausbrach. Auch bei der ersten Teilung Polens ging es für den König Fridrich II. darum, sich um einen großen Bevölkerungsanteil von Katholiken zu kümmern. Der preußische Monarch erhielt das Bistum Ermland, Westpreußen, sowie das Kulmer Land, jedoch nicht die bedeutende Hafenstadt Danzig und Thorn. Zwar erhielt Friedrich II. nur 1/5 der Teilungsmasse, Kaiser Joseph II. und die Zarin Katharina II. erhielten weit mehr an Landmasse oder Bevölkerung, das strategisch wichtige, sogenannte "Königliche Preußen", verband jedoch die Kernlande der Hohenzollern-Dynastie endlich mit Ostpreußen und schuf ein großes, weitestgehend zusammenhängendes Staatsgebilde. Juristisch konnte die Annektierung kaum gerechtfertigt werden, auch wenn Ansprüche mit einem lang verlorenen Erbe oder Erbrechten aufgrund der Deutschenor-densritter propagiert wurden. Um einen möglichst großen Nutzen der menschlichen und materiellen Ressourcen von dieser neuen Provinz zu haben, über die strategische Bedeutung hinaus, ließ der preußische König die Verwaltung stark zentralisieren - weit stärker als in der Adelsrepublik zuvor üblich gewesen war. Die Arbeit beschreibt zuerst die sehr abschätzige Meinung Friedrichs II. zur Religion, sowie die Bevölkerungszahlen von Protestanten und Katholiken in seinem Reich während der verschiedenen Expansionsphasen.
