Durch die Verortung der poetischen Texte Jean Pauls in die Anthropologie und die Integration von Theorieinformationen, Hintergründen der Ästhetik sowie philosophischen Fragestellungen in die Romananalysen gelingt es Bergengruen, eine Lücke in der Jean-Paul-Forschung zu schließen.
