About the Book

The Asia and the Pacific region is actively seeking ways to optimise the use and availability of its natural resources, which have been contributing to environmental degradation and hindering its sustainable development. This volume documents and promotes various initiatives showcasing the efforts countries in the region are making towards the implementation of the SDGs.
About the Author: Professor Walter Leal Filho (BSc, PhD, DSc, DPhil, DTech, DL, DLitt, FSB, FLS, FRGS) holds the Chairs of Climate Change Management at the Hamburg University of Applied Sciences (Germany), and Environment and Technology at Manchester Metropolitan University (UK). He directs the European School of Sustainability Science and Research (ESSSR) and the Inter-University Sustainable Development Research Programme, the largest network of universities specifically focusing on research on matters related to sustainable develpment. Professor Walter Leal Filho has over 30 years experience on sustainable development research and in excess of 600 publications to his credit.
Dr. Theam Foo Ng (BSc, MSc, PhD) is a senior lecturer at the Centre for Global Sustainability Studies, Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM), Malaysia. He is a coordinator for the South East Asia Sustainability Network (SEASN), the Southeast Asia countries network that incorporates higher education institutions and other related sustainability organisations which committed to promote, engage and integrate sustainability in their teaching, research, community engagement and institutional arrangement. His research interest is around machine learning, pattern recognition, computational intelligence, image processing, education for sustainable development, and sustainability.

Professor Usha Iyer-Raniga (B.Arch, M.A.S.A, PhD; MCIOB, MIEAA, GSA) is Professor of Sustainable Built Environment at RMIT University, and is co-leading the One Planet Network's Sustainable Buildings and Construction Programme (SBC), United Nations 10 Year Framework of Programmes on Sustainable Consumption and Production (UN 10FYP SCP) aligned with Sustainable Development Goal 12. The work directly impacts SDG 11 on Sustainable Cities and Communities and cross cuts other SDGs such as SDG 3 on Health and Well-being and SDG 4 on Education. Usha has published a total of over 100 publications, including research/consulting reports. The full breadth of her publications are scientific and technical research publications include edited books, book chapters, refereed journals, refereed conference papers and reports to local, state and federal government clients.

Professor Artie W. Ng (BSc, MSc, MBA, MEng, PhD, FCPA, FCMA, SrMIISE) is currently Senior Research Fellow with the Waterloo Institute for Sustainable Energy at the University of Waterloo. He conducts interdisciplinary research in the areas of sustainability performance, green finance as well as policy for renewable and sustainable energy in Asia. With an interest in international collaboration, he has held Visiting Professor positions with University of Bergamo, Jinan University (Institute of Resource, Environment and Sustainable Development) and National Cheng Kung University. He is a founding member of the Research Centre for Green Energy, Transport and Building at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University funded by the Research Grants Council. He has published over 100 publications, including referred journals, edited books, conference papers and consultancy reports.

Dr. Ayyoob Sharifi is an Associate Professor at Hiroshima University, Japan. His research is mainly at the interface of urbanism and climate change mitigation and adaptation. Dr. Sharifi actively contributes to global change research programs such as the Future Earth and currently is serving as a lead author for the Sixth Assessment Report (AR6) of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC). Before joining Hiroshima University, he was the Executive Director of the Global Carbon Project (GCP)-a Future Earth core project. The ultimate goal of his research is to provide further insights into how to develop sustainable, just, and resilient communities.
