About the Book

RJ Scott is a cantankerous old cowboy, doggedly set in his ways, and has no use for women, other than his weekly visits to "Big Goldie's Roadhouse" in his town of Poke, Texas. Elizabeth Carlton is an uptight widow, clinging to the memory of her deceased husband, insistent that her church friends on "Widow's Row" see only the virtuous image she has meticulously created for herself. The two baby boomers have accepted the routine of their boring existence, and want nothing more from life than to spend their golden years in peace and serenity, until the two aging delinquents are forced to spend the weekend from hell together. There they discover that life and love are far from over for either of them....and unfortunately, neither are their life shattering secrets.
About the Author: Brenda B. Dawson is an author with a gift she readily shares with her readers. During her early childhood years, Dawson spent much time alone on her family's farm in Papineau, Illinois. It was during those lonely years that she developed an imagination that would make her an accomplished writer. Dawson always loved to tell stories, and attempted writing in her early adult years, but the realization of her dream would take a backseat to raising her family and her pursuit of a professional career in retail sales management. After she retired, Dawson finally had the time needed to put the stories she has been saving over the years onto paper...and we are so glad that she did. Season of Magenta is Dawson's breakout novel. Since this publication, she has written Season of Regret, Indian Blanket and a prequel to A Season of Magenta. Dawson was never able to stay in the mold set for woman of the late 1950's early 1960's. In her personal life, she infiltrated the male dominated world of management in retail sales. Although she became successful in this man's world, her heart was always writing. Dawson is a story teller whose life experiences lend themselves to the development of her characters. The female protagonists in her work are innately strong woman on a life fulfilling journey. The reader is able to live through these eras with the characters as they become.
