Secrets of the Under-Under World: Time is the third book in a new fantasy series for kids from 9 to 12
The moon shines bright. Beckoning her. Sam knows she's not supposed to go out alone at night... but soon, she finds herself at the little beach.
Stars fall from the sky, streaming down like silver confetti. But these jelly-like objects are not stars. They are time-scraps -- each capturing a moment from long ago.
In Time -- the third book in the series -- Sam is surrounded by mysteries: the time-scraps, a Ghost Moon, a strange relative who shows up at her door, and an antique clock that runs backwards. What is behind these strange occurrences? And what do the moments locked within the time-scraps mean?
As Sam and her friends try to make sense of the clues, they see that many of the time-scraps are about Sam's mom and dad. Slowly, they begin to unravel the mystery of her parents' death, but it's a race against time. As they get closer and closer to answers, a powerful enemy is executing a plan of her own -- to conquer the world. And destroy Sam.
"Ancient trees form the walls of the passageway, dripping resin down their trunks and branches. Sheets of clear amber, like coloured windowpanes, hang suspended from the wooded roof
along with stalactites that look like warm icicles. Dozens of the amber objects contain the preserved bodies of flies, wasps, and beetles.
"Welcome, Sam," says The Sister, stepping out from the darkness. "I hope you like your new -- and final -- home."
Blending adventure, climate fiction, and coming-of-age themes of self-esteem and courage, Time will appeal to tweens as they navigate their own challenges and opportunities.
