In diesem Buch geht es um Singen als ein menschliches Tätigsein (1.) in den Grenzen des evangelischen Glaubensliedes und (2.) in der Epoche der Frühen Neuzeit (zwischen 1500 und 1800). Martin Luthers Lieder, Paul Gerhardts Dichtungen in den Melodien und Generalbasssätzen eines Johann Crüger und Christian Fürchtegott Gellerts Oden in den betexteten Handstücken Carl Philipp Emanuel Bachs bilden eine Art Gerippe der Entwicklung solchen Singens. Dazwischen geht es um den schwierigen Weg seiner Vermittlung und Aneignung ebenso, wie um den reichen künstlerischen Umgang mit ihm, u. a. im Werk Johann Sebastian Bachs. Und (3.) geht es um die Veränderung solchen Singens im Dienste einer Verfügung der Menschen über sich als Singende wie als Glaubende und um ihre er-wachsende religiöse und kulturelle Selbstbestimmung. Das Buch, als ein musikpädagogisches Studienbuch mit zahlreichen Notenbeispielen versehen, versucht, den Prozess der religiösen Emanzipation von der Reformation zur Aufklärung hin als einen solchen der Aneignung und Verinnerlichung eines Singens darzustellen, wie es das evangelische Glaubenslied lutherischer Prägung entwirft. Es versteht sich als Teil einer tätigkeitsorientierten Musikgeschichte für Musikpädagogen und in dieser als Teilband zu einer vergleichsweise erwachsenen Musik der Frühen Neuzeit.
About the Author: Dietmar Ströbel, geb. 1940 in Nordböhmen, aufgewachsen in Prag und (nach 1946) in Franken; nach dem Abitur in Hassfurt/Main Studium der Historischen Musikwissenschaft; 1970 Promotion mit einer Arbeit über L. Janacek (Universität Freiburg); seit 1972 in der Musiklehrerausbildung tätig, von 1982 bis 2004 als Professor für Musikpädagogik an der Universität Osnabrück/Abt. Vechta bzw. an der Hochschule Vechta. Der Autor lebt seit einigen Jahren in Osnabrück.
