As the title suggests, Seize the Days: A Common-Sense Guide to Living Life to the Fullest offers a down-to-earth guide for making the most out of every day. Author Clay Bryan proposes that the best analogy for early life is a hand poker: none of us has any control over the hand we are dealt, but we all have the free will to play our "poker hand of life" as we wish.
Bryan's guiding philosophy was deeply affected after reading The 4-Hour Workweek: Escape 9-5, Live Anywhere, and Join the New Rich by Tim Ferris, and is based on three principles. First, most reading this are statistically among the top ten percent of fortunate people in the world simply because we were born in the United States. Second, to live the best possible version of our lives, we must first recognize how fortunate and lucky we are. And last, we must accept the fact that every day could be our last.
After accepting these principles, we will able to appreciate and adopt the author's personal brand of positive, proactive advice, which he directs to readers of all ages-from elementary school students through graduate school and beyond. The author has condensed a lifetime of self-discipline, forethought, and optimism into this portable guide to living the most fulfilling life possible.
About the Author: Clay Bryan began writing down the title of every book he finished reading at age fifteen, a list he maintains and treasures to this day. He felt compelled to write a book given how much reading has affected the trajectory of his life, having recently completed his 2,000th title. His love of literature was instilled in him at the Greensboro Day School in Greensboro, North Carolina, where he was lucky to have many amazing teachers whom he greatly admired and wanted to emulate. He moved on to an undergraduate degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill followed by a graduate degree (MBA) from Georgia State University in Atlanta, Georgia. Seize the Days is his first published book. Clay splits his time between Charleston, South Carolina, Greensboro, North Carolina, and wherever the next adventure takes him.
