Bachelorarbeit aus dem Jahr 2012 im Fachbereich Soziologie - Medien, Kunst, Musik, Note: 1,3, Eberhard-Karls-Universität Tübingen (Wirtschafts- und Sozialwissenschaftliche Fakultät), Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Die Herstellung einer Öffentlichkeit - das ist die wichtigste Aufgabe, die Massenmedien für die (demokratische) Politik erfüllen. Diese Öffentlichkeit ist in einer Demokratie notwendig, denn nur sie macht politische Entscheidungen den Bürgern zugänglich, informiert sie. Somit erhalten diese die Möglichkeit auf politische Entscheidungen zu reagieren, sie entweder zu legitimieren oder sich gegen diese zu wenden. Die Bürger erlangen also mittels der Massenmedien eine Macht der Mitbestimmung und Kontrolle der Politik. Neben diesen demokratisch notwendigen Aufgaben erfüllen Medien auch weitere Funktionen. Eine, die ganz weit oben steht, ist sicherlich die Unterhaltungsfunktion. Was unterhaltsam ist, zieht mehr Interesse auf sich und trifft folglich auf ein breiteres Publikum. Ein breiteres Publikum bedeutet für die Medien größerer Umsatz. Dieser Sachverhalt führt dazu, dass "Information immer häufiger in Unterhaltung verpackt wird" (Sarcinelli, 2011: S. 105). Dieser Logik folgen auch immer mehr politische Akteure. Je unterhaltsamer und spannender ein Politiker sich, sein Amt und Leben darstellt, desto höher ist die Wahrscheinlichkeit, dass die Medien häufig über ihn berichten und er letztendlich prominent wird. Vom Prominent-Sein/-Werden versprechen sich die politischen Akteure Aufmerksamkeit, Beliebtheit und größeren aber vor allem schnelleren Erfolg. Ein politischer Akteur kann durch gekonnten Umgang mit den Massenmedien sein Image und seinen Prominentenstatus selbst verwalten. Guttenberg gelang diese 'Verwaltung' sehr gut. Die Menschen blieben an Guttenbergs positiver Selbstdarstellung "kleben". Für viele Menschen und auch für einige Medien kam seine Politik erst nach seiner Person. Das war ein Vorteil, denn so konnte er Dinge, die politisch nicht gut lief
