About the Book

Die gesellschaftliche Bedeutung und Bewertung menschlicher Arbeit ist im Laufe der Jahrhunderte immer wieder Veränderungen unterworfen gewesen, so auch in den letzten Jahren. Hier waren und sind es insbesondere die Entwicklungen der Individualisierung und Flexibilisierung, die einen starken Einfluss auf Arbeitsverhältnisse ausüben. Es obliegt ihm aber auch, seine Arbeit so zu organisieren, dass er diese effektiv und effizient erledigen kann. Letztlich wird erwartet, dass der Arbeitnehmer zunehmend unternehmerisch mit seiner eigenen Arbeitskraft umgeht. Selbstmanagement gilt dabei als eine besonders gute Möglichkeit, diesen Anforderungen gerecht zu werden. So erstaunt es nicht, dass sich heute eine nahezu unübersehbare Anzahl unterschiedlichster Selbstmanagement-Angebote an die Arbeitnehmer wenden. Diese reichen von Management-Ratgebern, über Coaching-Kurse bis hin zu den unterschiedlichsten Seminaren in Zeit- und Selbstmanagement. Trotz dieser Vielzahl unterschiedlicher Angebote haben sie doch eines gemein: Sie wenden sich an den Einzelnen! Auch die wissenschaftliche Diskussion um das Selbstmanagement findet in erster Linie in einem Bereich statt, der sich vor allem mit dem Individuum auseinandersetzt, in der Psychologie. Es erscheint also, als wäre die Selbstorganisation der Arbeitnehmer alleine deren Sache, als liege die Erbringung einer effektiven Arbeitsleistung letztlich ausschließlich in deren Händen.
