About the Author: Walter Schönau ist emeritierter Professor für Neuere Deutsche Literatur an der Universität Groningen/Niederlande. Sein Arbeitsschwerpunkte waren Psychoanalyse und Literatur. Veröffentlichungen u.a.: Sigmund Freuds Prosa (Stuttgart 1968), Einführung in die psychoanalytische Literaturwissenschaft (Stuttgart 1991, 2. Aufl. mit Joachim Pfeiffer, Stuttgart 2003) (mit Henk Hillenaar) Tekst en psyche. Psychoanalytische tekstinterpretatie in de praktijk (Amsterdam 2004). Als Herausgeber: Literaturpsychologische Studien und Analysen (Amsterdam 1983) gemeinsam mit Henk Hillenaar Literatuur in psychoanalytisch perspectief (Amsterdam 1990) und Fathers and Mothers in Literature (Amsterdam 1994). Er stellte mit seiner Frau die Register der neuen niederländischen Freud-Edition (Sigmund Freud: Werken, Amsterdam 2006) zusammen.
