About the Book

Where the Silence Sings is the gripping first instalment of The Symphonic Masquerade series from debut author, Emery Blaine. Fans of Leigh Bardugo will enjoy this Six of Crows meets an Abercrombie twist on a Sanderson-esque universe.

A bastard, an heir, and an orphan. Ever revolving around the same dying sun. When the realms witness the toppling of Raenaru's most powerful regents, the wheel of fate spins anew. Aeyun, a runaway whose ill fortune is writ in the threads of time, must come to terms with his past and reunite with what remains of his kin. In doing so, he may very well prevent the bleak visage of a future awash with blood and carnage. Even if he has to dance with a daemon. Even if he has to sell his soulsong. There was little he wouldn't do for Raeyu Thasian, the light which guided him. The light which blinded him.

Aeyun - The bastard; supposed son of the dedicated smith to the Thasian family, Aeyun formed a steadfast connection with Raeyu Thasian, one which results in their fates being linked, for better or worse. Aeyun has a tendency to drown in his own self-predication and is ceaselessly seeking absolution for his guilty conscience. After all, it's been proven time and again that he's never quite enough. Not in his past. Not now.

Seraeyu - The heir; once known as the hedonistic second sibling to the Thasian household, Seraeyu has taken his usurped place as Praetor, allowing him all the authority he never truly wanted. Seraeyu is stubborn and not nearly dedicated enough to stick to strict rules and regulations as he plays the benevolent ruler. But something festers inside, something scornful. Something that makes him lose control.

Sakaeri - The orphan; determined to shed her deep-seated disdain for the man who took what should have been her place in what should have been her family, Sakaeri is eager to assist Aeyun when things become dire for darling Raeyu Thasian. Sakaeri is explosive, but working on it. She loves to learn when the opportunity presents itself, too bad that's usually when she has a blade to the next academic's throat who's figured out something a bit too subversive.
