Jahrhundert aus sozialpsychologischer Sicht, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Simone de Beauvoir begann 1946 mit dem Schreiben ihres Buches "Das andere Geschlecht" ("Le Deuxième Sexe"), das 1949 in Paris veröffentlich wurde. In diesem berühmten Standardwerk überprüft sie "die subjektiven und objektiven Einschränkungen und Belastungen, denen Frauen ausgesetzt waren und sind". Michael Walzer hat in seinem Buch über die Gesellschaftskritik, die kritische Position von Simone de Beauvoir ( neben zehn weiteren Autoren ) unter bestimmten Gesichtspunkten untersucht. Sein Anliegen dabei war, herauszufinden, was Gesellschaftskritiker tun und wie sie ihre Tätigkeit begreifen, was die Grundlagen ihrer Kritik sind, wo sie stehen, wenn sie kritisieren, ob sie sich den Menschen verbunden oder nicht verbunden fühlen, deren Gesellschaft sie kritisieren. Dabei geht es Walzer in erster Linie darum, den Standort des Kritikers und die Motive seiner Kritik zu untersuchen. Der Standort und die Motive des Kritikers sind meistens von seinem Lebens- und Erfahrungsbereich nicht trennbar und begründen ein Anliegen seiner Kritik. Deshalb soll im Mittelpunkt der folgenden Analyse die Darstellung der Person Simone de Beauvoir stehen. Der biographische Hintergrund soll verdeutlichen, wie sich ihre kritische Position entwickelt hat und worauf sich ihr Anliegen in ihrer Gesellschaftskritik gründet. Die Ausführungen zu ihrer Biographie sollen ein besseres Verständnis für die wesentlichsten Aspekte ihrer Kritik ermöglichen, die im Anschluß erläutert und durch Walzers Betrachtungsweise ergänzt werden.
