About the Book

Sleep Little Raven is an endearing and calming bedtime story for ages 0-8 years.

Throughout the story, mother raven gently sings and soothes her young raven to sleep. She reassures young raven that they will be back soon to join the world, the sun, the fun, all together as one-- in unity with all of earth.

While singing, mother refers to the beautiful natural world young raven will look forward to being immersed in and interacting with when it wakes up from sleep, refreshed. In the end, four human children, from different parts of the world, join the young raven and all of nature.

The precious story is about unity of everyone and everything on earth. It is a story and song of love and understanding that we are all deeply connected to everything on earth. Everything is alive and everything is connected in the giant incredible web of life.

Let us put our minds together and see what life we can make for our children.
--Sitting Bull, Hunkpapa Lakota Sioux Leader and Wichasa Wakan, a type of holy man
About the Author: Gwendolyn S. Corbett, born in Manilla, Philippines, lived on the islands from 1968-1974 as her parents were Lutheran Missionaries. She attended 1st and 2nd grade at an international school with students from all over the world. While living on these beautiful islands, she remembers the extreme poverty and the many people who suffered.

In 1974 Gwendolyn's parents relocated to Logan, Ohio, Hocking County, rural Appalachia. Her dad grew up in this area, known for its poverty. Her dad and mom grew up poor. They returned to the U.S. with little money, so they settled into a dilapidated farmhouse on 36 acres of land. Initially there was no running water, an outhouse, and no electricity. The author remembers her mom boiling water on the stove and putting it into a free-standing tub for bathing. Her parents slowly remodeled the house, had livestock, and grew a vegetable and fruit garden.

In Logan she attended two 4-room school houses, Marion Township and St. John Catholic Schools. She attended Lancaster, Ohio City Schools from 8th-12th grades. Her first year of college was at Capital University, then four years at The Ohio State University to complete her B.S. in Landscape Architecture with high honors and accolades.

The author has a diverse background in employment from blue collar to white color jobs. She co-designed two homes with her husband, Mike. They built the first. As an environmental advocate she: taught Environmental Education in Hocking/Athens counties, was a newspaper columnist (going green educational articles--2 years), operated a nature and wellness retreat (13 years). She is a mother, poet, writer, singer, songwriter, and alternative healer. Her musical background includes: creation of children's CD and Irish/Celtic CD (both A cappella), singer in rock band, choirs, and duets. In addition to her first book, The Light at The End of The Covid-19 Tunnel, an anthology, she has written children's books since 2018 and is now getting them illustrated.

With Gwendolyn's early exposure to poverty as a young girl (Philippines and Appalachia), some proceeds from her books will help children in poverty around the world, causes for animals, and the environment.
