About the Book

The age-old questions, "Who are we? Why are we here? and "Where are we going? are explored in this warm and engaging book, the author's "passion project." This book surpasses others by creatively weaving together many diverse topics into a comprehensive, integrated whole. Drawing on ancient wisdom, quantum physics, spirituality, and anecdotal evidence, logical explanations and a simple, coherent framework are presented for contemplating the soul's journey through space and time.
The contributions of pioneering researchers in the field of afterlife science are identified; the interconnectedness of humanity and nature is reviewed; the power of thoughts is illustrated; and realities of consciousness are described. Included within the 18 chapters are discussions on the dual nature of our body; soul and interspecies communications; energy entanglements and karmic ties; natural and traumatic deaths; experiences in the afterlife; and the nature of evil, dark forces, exalted beings, and God.
With the investigation of atomic and subatomic particles, a new door of discovery was opened. Evidence of the existence and viability of unseen phenomena now renders the "supernatural," natural. Examples are given of how quantum action and energy manifestations penetrate and influence vital aspects of our everyday life and relationships.
The dying experience is explained as a physical, psychological, spiritual, and energy-transforming event. As a creative process, death awakens us to our true nature and lifts the veil between the worlds. Suggestions are given for how we can prepare in advance for our death so we can make this ultimate rite of passage an empowering experience.
Shirley Marshall, a retired college educator who started her professional life as an Army officer, has been on a lifelong quest to understand the meaning of life and our place and purpose. Her interest in death and the afterlife began decades ago at a time when these subjects were largely ignored or stigmatized. While working on her doctorate, she supplemented her metaphysical study with an academic focus on Thanatology.
Readers interested in metaphysics, psychology, wholistic health, and even criminology will find both practical and innovative information. Subjects that are not often examined are discussed in a no-nonsense and inspiring manner. Described as "mind blowing," this book is likely to challenge and expand ordinary perceptions of reality.
Whether through rigorous study, prayer, meditation, revelation, experimentation, or instrumentation, we are all in search for answers. Curiosity, flexibility, and open-mindedness are pathways leading us closer to reality and truth. And in our pursuit, we are encouraged to be mindful of our role in supporting one another and the web of life. As unity consciousness is realized, greater respect and appreciation can be gained for the animal, plant, and mineral kingdoms and for our precious and fragile planet.
It is the author's goal to bring greater awareness and understanding to issues often neglected, deemed incomprehensible, or feared. When death is acknowledged as natural, universal, and necessary, life can be experienced with greater faith and joy.
About the Author: The door to metaphysics was opened for Shirley Marshall over 55 years ago when she was sitting in high school psychology class. Her interest was piqued when listening to a book report on reincarnation. This led to exploring all she could about dying, death, and the afterlife, believing these mysteries contained answers she was seeking.
Shirley's professional life was launched as an active-duty Army officer. After nine years of service, Shirley returned to college to pursue a doctoral degree in Human Development, with a focus in Thanatology (the study of death and dying). The remainder of her professional life was in academia. She has taught undergraduate courses in social and behavioral sciences and graduate courses in counseling, to include loss and grief.
Shirley has also developed employment readiness programs and trained facilitators across the country to deliver life skills coaching to underserved populations. After training in touch and sound therapies, Shirley provided energy healing treatment to indigent clients at an urban free clinic and patients in hospice care. Her retirement years have focused on spirituality, creativity, and wellness practices.
Having lived overseas and traveled to over 60 countries, Shirley has a deep appreciation for cross-cultural experiences and holds a special fondness for the striving and spirited people of developing nations. She honors indigenous spirituality and healing practices and has participated in sacred ceremonies from Buddhist, Hindu, and Native American traditions.
Considering herself a "resource sharing" person, Shirley believes information is true wealth. When used wisely, information is an empowering force for good. This book is her "passion project," the culmination of a lifetime of metaphysical interest and study. It is her goal that the information will contribute to your understanding of the magnificent mysteries of life, death, and your eternal soul.
