Ce roman très clairement inspiré de Vingt Mille Lieues sous les mers de Jules Verne nous fait vivre un périple à la hauteur de celui du Capitaine Nemo: Vainqueur d'un concours avec son projet de sous-marin, Goël Mordax réalise le Jules-Verne et trouve l'amour. Mais poursuivi par la haine d'un de ses adversaires malheureux, il doit parcourir les mers à la recherche de sa fiancée... Extrait: Sur une idée de M. Lepique, Ursen Stroëm fit installer de puissants fanaux électriques, qui furent hissés en tête du grand mât et d'aveuglants et gigantesques faisceaux de lumière blanche fouillèrent jusqu'aux derniers recoins de l'horizon. Au bout d'une heure et demie de travaux, il fallut bien se résoudre à convenir que tout cela était inutile. M. de Noirtier et M. Lepique, qui seuls avaient conservé un peu de sang-froid, supposaient qu'Edda avait dû tomber à la mer accidentellement, que Coquardot s'était précipité à son secours, et que tous deux avaient coulé à fond. Cependant, cette façon de voir ne put tenir devant le témoignage des marins, qui avaient entendu les cris désespérés du cuisinier, et qui avaient vu ses adversaires le précipiter à la mer. Les événements demeuraient enveloppés de mystère.
