Fürsorge, Verwaltung und Ausgrenzung (16.-19.Jh.), Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Aus zeitgenössischer Perspektive wird man den Begriffen Arbeit und Armut vermutlich eine grundsätzliche Divergenz bescheinigen. Es ist heute nicht davon ausgehen, dass Personen, die sich in einem Arbeitsverhältnis befinden (zumindest was die industrialisierten Länder dieser Welt anbetrifft) Not und Hunger leiden müssen. In den vorangegangenen Jahrhunderten war dies freilich anders. Diesen Umstand beweist allein die Tatsache, dass es bis in die Mitte des 19. Jahrhunderts üblich war Arbeiter als Arme zu bezeichnen . In dieser Arbeit soll der Versuch unternommen werden, das Verhältnis und die Beziehungen von Arbeit und Armut in Deutschland im 19. Jahrhundert aufuzeigen. Im Hinblick auf den zu untersuchenden geographischen Raum treten dabei unweigerlich zwei Phänomene dieser Zeit in den Focus der Untersuchung: der allmählich abklingende Pauperismus in der ersten Hälfte des 19. Jahrhunderts und die beginnende Industrialisierung Deutschlands, die ab ca. 1850 ihren Siegeszug antrat. Der zeitliche Schwerpunkt der Arbeit liegt dabei deutlich in der zweiten Hälfte des 19. Jahrhunderts. In erster Linie soll hier untersucht werden, inwieweit sich Arbeit und Armut in den industrialisierten Produktionsbereichen gegenseitig bedingt haben. Hauptzielgruppe werden dabei im folgenden die Industriearbeiter, im speziellen die Textilarbeiter sein, da diese im Vergleich mit den anderen Industriebranchen ganz besonders von der Armut bedroht waren. Bevor es allerdings darum gehen wird, die Situation der Industriearbeiter zu untersuchen, soll in einem ersten Abschnitt zunächst der Pauperismus und seine Erscheinungsformen bis zur Mitte des 19. Jahrhunderts beleuchtet werden.
