Was für Menschen mit Demenz gut ist, ist für alle Menschen gut. Und nicht nur das: Es ist für unser Wohlbefinden und unsere Gesundheit existenziell. Wir können viel aus dem Umgang mit Menschen mit Demenz über unser Menschsein erfahren. Und was wir lernen, kann sich auf alle Bereiche unseres Lebens auswirken. Die Autorin hielt sich im Sommer, zu einer Zeit, da die meisten Menschen in den Urlaub reisen, für einige Zeit im Demenzzentrum Sonnweid in Wetzikon bei Zürich auf, das als Best Practise-Beispiel gilt, und stellte fest: Sie fühlte sich unter all diesen Menschen mit Demenz sehr glücklich. Wie war das möglich? Was ist das Geheimnis von Sonnweid? Wenn Menschen dement werden, dann werden uns nahe stehende Menschen fremd. Die Brücken des Verstehens brechen ab. Wir sind irritiert, verzweifelt, traurig. Allerdings gibt es Möglichkeiten, mit denen wir Brücken des Verstehens zu den uns fremd gewordenen Menschen bauen können. Und das Erstaunliche: Empathische Kommunikationsweisen sind ein wesentliches Fundament für unser aller Erleben von Wohlbefinden, Freude, Glück und Gesundheit. In vielen gesellschaftlichen Bereichen, wie in der Wirtschaft, bei Organisations- und Teamentwicklung, der Bildung, bei Konflikten, in der Therapie und eben bei Menschen mit Demenz werden empathische Haltungen und Interaktionen gelehrt, trainiert, gelebt. Aber nirgendwo wie beim Umgang mit Menschen mit Demenz können wir so unmittelbar erfahren, wie die Qualität unserer sozialen Interaktionen unser Glück, unser Wohlbefinden, unsere Gesundheit ja unser Menschsein fundamental bestimmt. About the Author: Gesina Stärz lebt und arbeitet am Tegernsee und Starnberger See. Sie war als freie Redakteurin und Autorin unter anderem bei der Süddeutschen Zeitung und der Süddeutschen Mediengruppe tätig. Derzeit arbeitet sie als Leiterin der sozialen Betreuung im MS Behandlungszentrum am Starnberger See sowie als freie Autorin und systemische Beraterin. Sie ist Philosophin - Studium der Philosophie, Neuen deutschen Literatur sowie Markt- und Werbepsychologie an der LMU München -, Dipl.-Sozialpädagogin (FH) und systemische Beraterin. Bisher sind von ihr im Verlag edition 8, Zürich, folgenden Romane erschienen: "kalkweiss" (2011), "Die Verfolgerin" (2013), "leben, überwiegend glücklich" (2014).
