Bachelorarbeit aus dem Jahr 2008 im Fachbereich Germanistik - Neuere Deutsche Literatur, Note: 1,5, Universität Siegen, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Die Figur des Doppelgängers als Ausdruck innerer Gespaltenheit galt als eines der beliebtesten literarischen Motive in der Romantik sowie im 19. Jahrhundert. Mit dieser Vorstellung vermochten Dichter, den Verlust des einheitlichen, intakten Persönlichkeitsbewusstseins sowie der lückenlosen Kontinuität des Ichs zu demonstrieren. Rund ein Jahrhundert später erhielt jener literarische Motivkomplex durch die Psychoanalyse Freuds sein theoretisches Pendant. Nunmehr bedurfte die zuvor rätselhaft und nebulös anmutende Spaltungserfahrung nicht mehr mythologischer Erklärungsweisen, sondern erschien vor dem Hintergrund der psychologischen Erläuterungen geradezu evident: Der Doppelgänger wurde als Konsequenz der Spannungen innerhalb des psychischen Apparats begriffen und als Verkörperung verdrängter Ich-Aspekte betrachtet. Was nun begann, war eine Doppelgängergeschichte von Literatur und Psychoanalyse, die - entsprechend dem Lacanschen Spiegelstadium, in dem das Bild vor dem Abgebildete ist - Verwirrung über die Chronologie und das Urheberrecht verursachte: Wie vermochten die Autoren des 19. Jahrhunderts die ein halbes Jahrhundert später generierten psychoanalytischen Theorien antizipierend in ihr Werk aufgenommen haben? Kritiker postulierten gar, diese Bezüge seien inszeniert, die Psychoanalytiker hätten die literarischen Texte lediglich für die künstliche Umsetzung ihrer wissenschaftlichen Theorien missbraucht. Über solche Diskussionen hinweg wird zumal der springende Punkt übersehen - das Endergebnis: Die psychoanalytische Textinterpretation bietet eine faszinierende Lesweise, mit der eine neue psychologische Dimension literarischer Werke erschlossen werden kann. In dieser Abhandlung werden in Anlehnung an die psychoanalytische Textinterpretation zwei Werke des 19. Jahrhunderts analysiert: Die Elixiere des Teufels von E.T.A. Hof
