About the Book

SPEAKING IN TONGUES & THE SPIRIT FILLED LIFE
When the Day of Pentecost came... All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them. Acts 2:1-4

The disciples had been with Jesus for three and a half years. He taught them and personally trained them in preparation to carry on His work when He would no longer be with them.

By the time the Day of Pentecost had arrived, Jesus had been crucified, resurrected, and ascended to His throne. He had given the disciples the 'Great Commission, ' but despite the prolonged season of preparation, training, and their readiness to 'Go' and 'Do, ' Jesus told them they hadn't yet been fully equipped. He told them not to go anywhere or do anything until they had received the 'Promised Gift.'

"Do not leave Jerusalem, but wait for the gift my Father promised, which you have heard me speak about. For John baptized with water, but in a few days you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit."Acts 1:4-5

Because they were obedient, they did what Jesus told them to do and received the "Promise" - the gift of the baptism of the Holy Spirit with speaking in tongues. What they received that day dramatically changed their lives and has continued to change lives, societies, cultures, nations, and governments right up to this present day.

This worldwide transformation began with Christian believers receiving the Baptism of the Holy Spirit and speaking in tongues. What the disciples needed, we need. What changed their lives can change our lives, and what changed their world is what can change ours. No matter how much training we get, we will be inadequately prepared to fulfill the Great Commission unless we receive the same gift the early disciples received. They were equipped with "Power from on high" to meet people's needs: body, soul, and spirit, just like Jesus did. People's needs have not changed, and God's will has not changed. Jesus is "The baptizer with the Holy Spirit" (Luke 3:16) and He has not changed.

On the Day of Pentecost, Peter preached a message that brought thousands to conviction. Their response was, "Brothers, what shall we do?" (Acts 2:37). Peter answered them by giving them the three fundamental requirements that gave birth to the New Covenant era: he told them to repent, be water baptized, and receive the gift of the Holy Spirit (Acts 2:38).
How would today's church respond to a teaching that declared water baptism was no longer needed, that it was only meant for first-century believers? Wouldn't you expect a protest in mass if church leaders taught that repentance was not a necessity for salvation? So, where is the outcry over the loss and denial of the third requirement of these three? Receiving the gift of the Holy Spirit is another way of describing the baptism of the Holy Spirit with speaking in tongues. (This book will go into greater detail to prove the connection between the two.)

Everything about Christianity, the church, our effect on our world, and the coming of His kingdom all have to do with our relationship with God, the Holy Spirit. Nothing is more important, nothing is more critical, and nothing more beneficial.

The baptism of the Holy Spirit with speaking in tongues is just as real today as it was then, just as necessary now as it was then, and just as available as it was then.

This book is about reinstating the baptism of the Holy Spirit with speaking in tongues to today's Christianity. It has been preached against, taught against, defied, and denied. This is an attempt to right a wrong - to restore to you and to the church the many facetted benefits of receiving the baptism of the Holy Spirit with speaking in tongues. The gift is designed by God to bring you into a more intimate and spiritual relationship with Him and to equip and empower the church to disciple the nations.
