Studienarbeit aus dem Jahr 2006 im Fachbereich Romanistik - Fächerübergreifendes, Note: 1,0, Ruprecht-Karls-Universität Heidelberg (Romanisches Seminar), Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: In der vorliegenden Arbeit soll es vorwiegend um die Interpretation des Themas im Spätmittelalter und der Scholastik gehen, anhand des italienischen Poeten und Philosophen Dante Alighieri. Grundlage der Hausarbeit ist sein unvollendet gebliebenes Traktat "De vulgari eloquentia", welches dem Phänomen Sprachursprung und der Verbreitung der Sprachen mehrere Kapitel widmet und eine zentrale Bedeutung in der Sprachursprungsforschung des Spätmittelalters einnimmt. Nach Borst (1966: 15) brachte Dante sogar "das meiste und Beste von dem vor, was das abendländische Mittelalter, die für diese Fragen zentrale Epoche, über Ursprung und Vielfalt der Sprachen zu sagen hatte". Seine Leistung bestand darin, dass er wie kein anderer die sprachlichen Wandlungen in Europa Ende des 13. Jahrhunderts erkannte und außerdem die Entfaltung von Lokalsprachen ausmachte, die "unter der alten lateinischen Decke hervorwuchsen" (Borst 1966: 17), die sich allerdings noch nicht zu standardisierten Nationalsprachen entwickelt hatten. Im Folgenden soll dargestellt werden, wie Dante das Phänomen Sprachursprung interpretiert, inwiefern er dabei in der wissenschaftlichen Tradition seiner Zeit steht und welche eigenen Ansätze er zur Interpretation dieses Themas liefert. Die Suche nach dem Ursprung der Sprache hat die Menschheit schon immer fasziniert und beschäftigt. Seit Jahrhunderten befassen sich unterschiedliche wissenschaftliche Disziplinen mit der Frage, wie es dazu kam, dass der Mensch im Gegensatz zu Tieren die Fähigkeit zu sprechen erwarb. Während das Thema im Mittelalter eher von Theologen behandelt wurde, verlagerte es sich in der Neuzeit mehr in das Sachgebiet der Philosophie und später in die neu entstandenen Einzelwissenschaften der Natur- und Geisteswissenschaften, wie z.
