About the Book

NASA research of earth-moon mechanics by late astrophysicist Robert Newton leads MSU mathematicians to a breakthrough in the chronology and history of ancient Greece. 'The Issue with Troy' shows the amazed reader that the whole Troy story was a swindle exercised by German 'archeologist 'adventurer Schleiman. Dr Fomenko follows Sir Isaac Newton ideas in The Chronology of Ancient Kingdoms Amended and applies Occam's razor (among competing hypotheses, the one with the fewest assumptions should be selected) he concludes that Homer's history of Troy is pure fiction. Indeed, the consensual localization for Homer's Troy is Hisarlik near the Hellespont straits. Herr Heinrich Schliemann used this hypothesis for solemnly baptizing as "Troy" the 100 by 100 metre excavation site of a minuscule ancient settlement (such ruins do abound there) that he had discovered near the Hellespont, where he announced the finding of gold of Priam artefacts that he himself designed and manufactured by Paris jewellers Bulgari. Schliemann's excavation of nine levels of archaeological remains with dynamite was constructive for supporting Homer's Iliad but somewhat destructive for any significant historical artifacts, including the level that is presumed to be the historical Troy. Compared to his 'archeology' the Hollywood's Troy can be considered as an excellent irrefutable documentary. Herr Schliemann (1822-1890) was a German businessman-adventurer of Indian Jones mold. Hyssarlik should be renamed again from Troy into Schliemannstadt. The reason for such speedy discovery was that all things 'ancient' Greek were fashion very much in demand in Berlin of 1868. 'Ancient' Rome brand was too French and thus corrupt. German Reich was to be built on a clean of 'ancient' Greek example and style. Just look at German buildings and monuments of that period. German Indiana Schliemann did his job and delivered the goods. Sieg Heil!
On the one hand, Dr. Fomenko et al. call everybody, historians including, to apply the Occam's razor to world history and connect the dots. On the other the scientists Dr. Fomenko et al. are ready to recognize the alleged mistakes of New Chronology theory, to repent and to retract if and only if: - radiocarbon dating methods or dendrochronology pass the clear anonymous 'black box' tests; - astronomic data refute their results on solar eclipses; - it is proven irrefutably that Robert Newton (NASA astrophysicist) was wrong to brand 'ancient' Ptolemy the greatest con man in history in his 'Crime of Claudius Ptolemy'; The radiocarbon dating labs run their very costly tests only if is the sample to be dated is accompanied with an idea of age pronounced by historians based on...subjective..mmm...gut-feeling and the history books they have been writing for the last 400 years. Radiocarbon labs happily bill for their fiddling and finetuning with C14 hardware to get the dates 'to order' of historians. Circulus Vicious is perfect. PS: Prescient Saint Augustin said, "..beware of mathematicians, especially when they speak the truth! !". Dr. Anatoly Fomenko is a Full Member (Academician) of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Full Member of the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences, Full Member of the International Higher Education Academy of Sciences, Doctor of Physics and Mathematics, Professor, Head of the Moscow State University Department of Mathematics and Mechanics. He solved the classical Plateau's Problem from the theory of minimal spectral surfaces. Author of 210 scientific publications, 26 monographs, and textbooks on mathematics, a specialist in geometry and topology, variational calculus, symplectic topology, Hamiltonian geometry and mechanics, computational geometry. Dr. Fomenko has issues with the Art of History when he dares to apply new empirico-statistical methods.
