Magisterarbeit aus dem Jahr 2005 im Fachbereich Kunst - Architektur, Baugeschichte, Denkmalpflege, Note: sehr gut, Universität Hamburg, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Die Befreiung von der nationalsozialistischen Herrschaft und deren unvorstellbaren Gräueln stand am Beginn eines mühsamen, aber beständigen politischen, sozialen und kulturellen Wandels in Deutschland. Und dennoch lassen sich weder das Jahr 1945 noch die beiden deutschen Staatgründungen 1949 allein als radikale und voraussetzungslose Neuanfänge fassen. Das Kriegsende etwa zur "Stunde Null" erklären hieße, sämtliche Kontinuitäten, die aus der Zeit des Nationalsozialismus nach 1945 weiter wirkten, wie auch solche Brüche, die sich bereits vor 1945 ergaben, aus dem Blick zu verlieren. Gerade für die in diesem Buch thematisierte Hamburger Stadt und Wiederaufbauplanung, ein Betätigungsfeld für vermeintlich unpolitische Architekten und Ingenieure, stellte nicht das Jahr 1945 die größte Zäsur dar. Nicht etwa der Einmarsch britischer Truppen am 3. Mai 1945, sondern ein anderes Datum war für die Stadtplanung in Hamburg besonders einschneidend: die Rede ist von der Bombardierung Hamburgs im Sommer 1943. Die Bombenangriffe der alliierten Operation "Gomorrha" lösten eine bis dahin in Hamburg für unvorstellbar gehaltene Katastrophe aus. Mehr als 35.000 Menschen kamen im "Feuersturm" ums Leben, etwa 900.000 Menschen verloren ihre Wohnung. Dass Hamburg in Bombenkrieg und Feuersturm schwer zerstört worden war, ließ die Stadt in der Logik des Planers als "tabula rasa" erscheinen. Altes war beseitigt, Platz für Neues geschaffen. Inmitten des Krieges arbeitete der Architekt und Stadtplaner Konstanty Gutschow intensiv an der Wiederaufbauplanung und verwirklichte seine Vorstellungen für das neue Hamburg in einem Generalbebauungsplan. Die politische Zäsur und die Zeit der britischen Militärregierung in Hamburg führten nicht zu einem völligen Bruch in der Wiederaufbauplanung. Selbst nachdem Gutschow nach 1945 keine aktive Rolle
